Care Guide
Lucky you, Love! Your new pieces have been thoughtfully designed to last for generations. Best of all they don't require much maintenance, but they will look their best over the years if you remember a few tips:
Beaded Jewelry
Each piece of beaded jewelry is hand-strung, using stones as close to their natural state as possible, so designs and sizes vary slightly and no two pieces are identical. The natural minerals in these pieces are sensitive to prolonged exposure to hairsprays, body oils/lotions and perfumes. Though your pieces are durable, they will be happiest if you take them off before showering, swimming or exercising. To ensure longevity, please be gentle and avoid the tugging and pulling of these pieces.
14K and 18K Gold
Put the sparkle back into your pieces by giving your gold an occasional little bath in a solution of warm water and a few drops of dish soap. For pieces solely constructed of gold, and do not contain gems, an ultrasonic jewelry cleaner also does the trick. If possible, an occasional trip to your jeweler for a professional cleaning will make your piece happy.
14K Gold Fill
All of our gold accented pieces are of the highest quality 14K Gold Fill. They perform the same as solid gold, can last five times longer than gold plated and gold vermeil, and are sensitive skin friendly. We source Italian manufactured 14K Gold Filled product that are nickel and zinc-free. Though our 14K GF is tarnish-resistant - which means you can wear them to shower, exercise, to sleep, etc - we recommend following the same care as our 14K and 18K gold products.
Gems
We want your gems to be with you for a lifetime, so please double-check the security of your gems prior to each wear. It’s normal for gems to shift or become loose after prolonged exposure to the elements. Ditto for checking all clasps prior to each wear. To restore the sparkle of your precious and semi-precious gems, like rubies, emeralds, and sapphires set in gold, brush stones and settings with a baby-soft toothbrush dipped in a solution of lukewarm water and a few drops of dish soap. Rinse, dry and polish.
Pearls
Pearls are stronger than most people know. With proper care, you can help maintain the natural luster of your pearls for years to come. First step is to wear them often, as pearls respond well to frequent wear and the natural moisture and oils in the skin can help them from drying out. Make sure they are the last piece on and the first piece off - avoid applying makeup, hairspray, lotion or perfume once your pearls are on, as harsh chemicals will wear the surface of your pearls and create a dull appearance. Store them flat and separate from other jewelry. After every wear, wipe your pearls with a soft cloth. When needed, mix a solution of lukewarm water and mild hand soap, dip a soft cleaning cloth in it and wipe the pearls. Though they come from the sea, it's best not to submerge your pearl necklace in water.
Diamond Pave
Clean your pavé pieces with warm water, a mild detergent and a very soft toothbrush or cloth.
